Pics from this week: We took the girls to Monster Jam last weekend and they had a blast! Also - it’s hot outside!

I’m writing this in a sweatshirt, sweating after hanging outside with the kids for a few minutes thanks to the 76 degree weather today! This is your reminder — if you haven’t gone outside yet, you need to!

This week we’re talking about one of the biggest projects happening downtown right now that’s going to quietly reshape how Wichita functions for years to come. I’ve also rounded up some fun events happening around town (there’s a little something for everyone), and in this week’s YouTube video I’m pulling back the curtain on where “old money” actually lives in Wichita — and it’s probably not exactly where you think.

Let’s get into it!

The Hub - Downtown’s New Transit Center!

One of the biggest projects happening downtown right now is The Hub, Wichita’s brand-new multimodal transit facility — and it’s going to be such a game changer for how people move around the city. Located in the Delano area near Riverfront Stadium, The Hub will replace the current downtown bus transfer station with a modern, centralized space designed for bus riders, cyclists, pedestrians, drivers, and even scooter users.

This isn’t just a bus stop upgrade — it’s a thoughtfully designed facility that will include 12 covered bus bays, an indoor ticketing and waiting area, Wichita Transit administrative offices, improved security features, and a large parking garage to support downtown visitors and transit riders. The goal is to create a safer, more efficient, and more welcoming experience while also reducing congestion in surrounding neighborhoods.

City leaders have emphasized that The Hub is about long-term growth — supporting downtown development, improving accessibility, and creating better connections between neighborhoods, jobs, and entertainment districts. Construction is underway now, and it’s expected to officially open in summer 2026.

📍 Location: 207 S. Sycamore St., Wichita, KS (Delano District)
📆 Opening: Expected Summer 2026
💲 Investment: Approximately $26 million (city and federal funding)

This is one of those projects that might not feel flashy at first glance, but it’s going to have a huge impact on how downtown functions for years to come.
