Towne West Mall’s Next Chapter!

Towne West Square officially closed on June 30, ending a 44-year run as one of Wichita’s go‑to shopping destinations. But it’s not the end—it’s a bold new beginning.

Now known as the Wichita Business Park, a project led by Industrial Realty Group (IRG) and Provider Real Estate Partners (PREP), the site will be redeveloped into a 650,000 sq ft multi‑tenant campus. The transformation is supported by $21 million in city‑issued industrial revenue bonds, a move approved by the City Council mid‑July.

🔨 What’s planned:

  • Offices, light industrial/R&D spaces, advanced manufacturing facilities, and flex‑use buildings

  • A refreshed exterior façade giving the space a clean, modern look

  • A strategic location near the airport and major transit routes, perfect for business logistics

🏢 Timeline & What’s Next:

  • Exterior work began July 7, with painting already underway

  • The first businesses are expected to move in during Q1 2026, bringing new life and jobs to the area

And don’t worry—while the interior retail stores closed by June 30, existing anchors like Dillard’s Clearance Center, JCPenney, and the Boulevard Theatre are staying put.

Wichita’s skyline is changing—and this isn’t just a renovation, it’s a pivot. What do you think might pop up in the old mall spaces? Maybe a startup hub, advanced labs, or something else entirely? Let us know your thoughts!
