Kansas State Fair: The Heartbeat of Fall
Every September, the Kansas State Fair transforms Hutchinson into a 10-day celebration of everything Kansan and there’s still a few days left to get out and enjoy it! Our state fair consistently ranks among the biggest and best state fairs in the country, with over 70 buildings on 280 acres, hundreds of thousands of visitors, and events that span livestock shows, contests, entertainment, and engineering marvels, it’s the perfect mix of heritage, fun, and fall vibes. Let’s get into what’s on deck for one of the weekend’s best lineups.

Friday, Sept. 12
Celebrity Goat Milking – Watch the Golden Goat awarded at this quirky and entertaining event (3:30 PM at the Goat, Sheep & Swine Building).
Ludacris with DJ Infamous – Live concert vibes at the Grandstand (7:30–10:00 PM)—expect high energy and hits.
Saturday, Sept. 13
Roy Coffey Antique Farm Machinery Show – For the tractor enthusiasts and history buffs: over 60 antique machines on display (8:00 AM in the Administration Lot).
Explore Kansas Festival – Celebrate local culture in the OZ Gallery with exhibits, food, and community buzz (9:00 AM).

Arm Wrestling Championship – Go head-to-head at the fair’s strongest showdown, held under the rules of AUSA.
Lorrie Morgan with Mason Ramsey – End the fair weekend with country music charm from these two performers (5:00–7:30 PM at the Grandstand).

WICHITA MARKET UPDATE
Home sales slowed a bit in August, with closings down about 7% from last year, but prices are still on the rise—median sales hit $245,000, up nearly 9%. The big shift is inventory: there are 28% more homes for sale than a year ago, giving buyers more options. Homes that are priced right are still moving fast, with a median of just 10 days on the market.
For Sellers: Prices remain strong, but rising inventory means it’s more important than ever to price competitively. Well-priced homes are still selling in ~10 days at or above list price.
For Buyers: You have more options now, and while prices are higher than last year, increasing supply may give you room for negotiation in certain segments. Acting quickly is still key for the best homes.
