Chiefs Officially Becoming a Kansas Team!

It felt like a bit of a Christmas gift for fans here — the Kansas City Chiefs are officially planning a move from Missouri into Kansas, allowing Kansans to truly claim the team as our own. After years of stadium discussions and uncertainty, the franchise has announced plans to build a new domed stadium and team facilities in Kansas, with a target opening around the 2031 season.

The Chiefs have played at Arrowhead Stadium in Missouri since 1972, but recent funding challenges pushed the organization to explore new options. Kansas leaders stepped in with a financing plan that cleared the way for the team to commit long-term to the Sunflower State. Proposed plans include a stadium near Kansas Speedway and The Legends in Wyandotte County, along with a practice facility and team headquarters in Johnson County.

Team leadership has emphasized that while the address may change, the heart of Chiefs Kingdom remains the same. The passion, tradition, and fanbase that define the franchise aren’t going anywhere — they’re just crossing the state line.

Beyond football, the move is expected to bring significant economic impact, including jobs, tourism, and a large mixed-use entertainment district surrounding the new stadium. For Kansas, this represents one of the biggest sports and development wins in state history.

Whether you’re celebrating the move or still processing the change, one thing is certain: this is a historic moment for local sports fans, and Kansas will soon be able to officially say the Chiefs are home.

Why Are So Many Families Moving To Maize in 2026

Maize keeps popping up in conversations with families around Wichita — and it’s not by accident. In my latest video, I break down why Maize is still one of the most popular suburbs in 2026, from top-rated schools and early childhood options to what homes actually cost right now (using real MLS data). I also talk honestly about the tradeoffs families should understand before making a move. If Maize is on your radar, this is a must-watch.
