This is shaping up to be a classic stay-at-home Wichita weekend. A major winter storm is rolling in tonight with snow, wind, and some seriously cold temperatures, so this week’s Weekend Report looks a little different than usual.
Instead of bouncing around town, this feels like a great excuse to stay warm, lay low, and embrace an indoor weekend. Below, I’ve shared what to expect with the storm, a few reminders to stay safe, and then plenty of things you can scroll, watch, and click without ever leaving the couch. I’ve got my latest YouTube video breaking down what the Wichita real estate market could look like in 2026, plus my new listings if you feel like doing a little window shopping between board games and movie marathons.
Stay warm, take it slow on the roads, and if you’re stuck inside anyway… you might as well make some progress on your Wichita real estate knowledge while you’re at it!

Winter Storm Rolling Into Wichita (Tonight Through the Weekend)

A major winter storm is moving into Wichita later today and tonight and will impact much of the central and southern U.S. through the weekend. For our area, the biggest concerns are heavy snow, strong winds, and extreme cold.
What to expect in Wichita:
Snow totals: Most forecasts are calling for 6–10 inches of snow from tonight through Saturday
Wind: Gusty winds will cause blowing snow and reduced visibility, especially overnight
Temperatures: Highs in the teens, with overnight lows near or below zero
Wind chills: Potentially –15°F to –25°F at times this weekend
Cold air will stick around even after the snow stops
🚗 A Friendly Wichita Reminder
Even if you know how to drive in the snow… Wichita drivers as a whole do not.
Expect slick roads, slow traffic, and unpredictable drivers. Take it easy, give yourself extra time, and assume the person in front of you has never seen snow before.
🧤 Prepare, But Don’t Panic
Yes, it’s smart to be prepared. No, you don’t need 140 gallons of milk.
Grocery stores are already getting hit hard, so grab what you need and leave some for everyone else.
Smart prep tips:
Finish errands early and limit travel once the storm hits
Have food, water, meds, and pet supplies for a few days
Charge phones and batteries
Have a basic plan in case we lose power (flashlights, blankets, safe heat options)
Bring pets inside and check on neighbors who may need help
This is a good storm to hunker down, stay warm, and stay put if you can. Keep an eye on local updates through the weekend, and let’s all survive this without hoarding dairy products.
WHAT'S HAPPENIN’ THIS WEEKEND?
Normally this is the section where I share all the fun weekend events happening around town, but with the winter storm and dangerously low temperatures moving in, I’d recommend just staying inside this weekend!
