We had our first tornado warning of the year yesterday! Luckily there was no real threat, but there were some pretty incredible clouds and lightning storms to gaze at. I personally love this time of year. Everything is greening up, I can mow my grass low, and we can hang outside comfortably without breaking a sweat immediately.
In other news… it’s the final weekend of the Parade of Homes, so if you’ve been meaning to check it out, this is your last shot before it wraps up. I’ve also got a full list of things happening around Wichita this weekend with a lot going on, plus a new YouTube video where I break down 7 things I wish I knew before moving to Wichita and the stuff people don’t usually tell you upfront. And of course, I’ve got a few new listings worth taking a look at too.

Last Chance - Spring Parade of Homes!
If you’ve been meaning to check it out, this is your sign—it’s the final weekend of the Parade of Homes in Wichita. After two weekends of open houses and inspiration, April 25–26 is your last opportunity to step inside some of the area’s newest and most impressive homes.

Homes will be open Saturday and Sunday from 1:00–5:00 PM, just like the previous weekends, making it an easy afternoon activity to squeeze in before it wraps up.
So what can you expect if you go? Honestly—a little bit of everything. The Parade features 100+ homes across Wichita and surrounding communities, ranging from cozy starter homes to fully custom builds with all the extras. You might walk into a home with a bright, open-concept kitchen perfect for hosting, then head to the next stop and find a spa-like bathroom, hidden pantry, or a backyard setup that feels like a vacation spot.
You’ll also get a firsthand look at what’s trending right now—think modern layouts, energy-efficient features, smart home tech, and creative uses of space that make everyday living easier (and a lot more stylish). Whether it’s built-in coffee bars, statement lighting, or outdoor living spaces, there’s no shortage of ideas to take home with you.
Another bonus? This isn’t just about looking—it’s about learning. Builders and representatives are often on-site, so you can ask questions, explore different neighborhoods, and get a feel for what’s being built around Wichita right now.
And the best part: it’s completely free and totally self-guided. You can visit one home or map out a whole route and make an afternoon of it.
If you want to plan your stops (highly recommended so you don’t miss the good ones), you can find the full map and list of homes here:

Whether you’re house hunting, remodeling, or just love seeing what’s new, this final weekend is your last chance to get inspired before the doors close on this year’s Parade.

But there's a whole list of things people only figure out after the moving trucks leave. This week I put together the seven things I hear from families most in that first year — and how to get ahead of all of them.
