Well, we visited our last pumpkin patch of the year, so I guess it’s officially Christmas season! We got some new family photos taken at the Great Plains Nature Center, which is perfect this time of year. It’s crazy that it’s dark at 5:30 though... we’ve actually been going to bed on time because it feels soooo late!

In other news, Wichita is getting a new OnCue travel center in the west part of town (and yes, Buc-ee’s, our doors are open), I’ve got a full lineup of weekend events from the Sunflower Merry Mart to the Tina Turner symphony tribute, and this week’s video walks through the more than $2 billion of work changing the Wichita metro by 2030, including the traffic headaches coming with it.

Make sure to check out my active listings at the bottom, including a west-Wichita gem with a luxury chicken coop!

Let’s get into it!

A New OnCue In Town!

We've got a new convenience store name to add to the Wichita lineup! Oklahoma-based OnCue Express is making plans to expand into Kansas, and Wichita is getting one of its first locations. The company recently purchased approximately 8 acres in west Wichita for a new travel center, marking a pretty big step in its expansion beyond Oklahoma and Texas.

If you're not familiar with OnCue, it's a popular regional convenience store chain known for offering a little more than your average gas station stop. Many of its larger locations feature multiple fueling stations, made-to-order food like pizza, burgers and chicken, fresh bakery items, expanded coffee and drink selections, and plenty of grab-and-go options. Think of it as an upgraded road-trip pit stop!

As of now, specific construction and opening dates haven't been announced, but the land purchase is a good indication that plans are moving forward. OnCue is also reportedly exploring additional locations throughout the region, so Wichita may not be its only Kansas stop.

Welcome to Wichita, OnCue! But if anyone from Buc-ee's is reading this, our doors are open.

Wichita KS’s Mega Transformation by 2030

The Wichita our kids grow up in won’t look like the one we grew up in. There’s more than two billion dollars of work happening across the metro right now, from downtown to Derby to Park City. In this week’s video, I walk through what’s being built, what it means for home values and jobs, and the traffic headaches coming with it. I also cover a few big ideas that aren’t happening by 2030, so you know what to plan around.
