What a week! It feels like half of Wichita is getting a new roof after that crazy hailstorm. Some spots saw baseball-sized hail… so if you know an insurance agent, send them a prayer (and maybe some coffee).

On a lighter note, this week’s newsletter is packed. Zoobilee is right around the corner which is Wichita’s wildest night at the zoo and one of the city’s biggest fundraisers. Plus, there are tons of events happening this weekend, from festivals and outdoor movies to a garlic festival (yes, garlic) in Old Town.

And if you’ve ever wondered how Wichita stacks up against Kansas City, don’t miss my new video: “Wichita vs Kansas City: The Smart Move in 2025.”

Zoobilee - A Night at the Zoo Like No Other

🦁 Sedgwick County Zoo: A Local Gem Worth Supporting

Did you know Sedgwick County Zoo consistently ranks among the top zoos in the entire country? With more than 3,000 animals and nearly 400 species spread across 247 acres, it’s a world-class attraction right here in Wichita. Supporting the zoo helps it continue to grow, care for animals, and provide amazing experiences for the community—which is exactly why Zoobilee is such an important event.

Mark your calendar for September 6, 2025, from 6:00 PM to midnight. Zoobilee is back and ready to deliver Wichita’s wildest night out while raising vital funds for the zoo.

Here’s what to expect:

  • Food & Drinks: Sample bites from over 60 local restaurants and vendors while enjoying open bars and tasting stations.

  • Live Music: Dance the night away with performances by local favorites, including the Llew Brown Band.

  • Silent Auction: Bid on one-of-a-kind items—from jewelry and spa packages to travel getaways.

  • Atmosphere: Experience the zoo like never before, glowing under the stars with a festive, lively crowd.

Tickets: Around $175–$200 per person, digital entry only.

🌟 Why It Matters

Zoobilee is the biggest fundraiser of the year for Sedgwick County Zoo. Every ticket sold directly supports animal care, conservation programs, and the future of one of Wichita’s most treasured attractions.
