Wichita’s skyline is about to look a little different this weekend! Not from construction, but from 400 drones lighting up the night sky at Exploration Place. It’s one of the coolest fall events in town, and it’s happening alongside a packed calendar of concerts, festivals, and family fun.

Plus, I just released a new video diving into Wichita’s $1 billion downtown transformation where I cover all the changes that’ll shape our city for years to come. Scroll down to check it out!

Have a great weekend!

Wichita Drone Light Festival 2025

Get ready for an experience that’ll light up the night sky — the Drone Light Festival returns to Exploration Place from October 3–5, 2025, 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM each night.

Imagine 400 synchronized drones dancing above Wichita, forming images tied to cinematic music by John Williams — things like Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, Superman, and more. For a dramatic touch, a live string quartet will accompany some segments.

🎫 Ticket Options & Pricing

  • Carload Pass: $75 (non-members) / $65 (members) — includes parking and admission for up to 9 guests in one car.

  • Individual Ticket: $20 (non-members) / $15 (members) — walk-in attendance (no parking included).

  • Reserved Chair Upgrade: $2 per person — reserve your seat in the amphitheater bowl.

  • VIP Add-On: $125 per person — access to a lounge, buffet, bar, exclusive viewing, and behind-the-scenes drone tour.

📅 What to Do & See Each Night

  • Gates open at 6:00 PM — enjoy food trucks, live music, vendor booths, and family-friendly activities.

  • Drone show begins around 9:00 PM (weather permitting).

  • Visit the drone launch area to see the drones up close and meet the crew.

  • Decorate and launch floating water lanterns, enjoy a candlelight concert, and explore exhibits before the main event.

  • Rain date is Monday, October 6 if weather forces cancellation.

💡 Why You Should Go

This isn’t just a drone show — it’s a full evening of festival spectacle: drones, music, art, light, and community. If you’ve never seen hundreds of drones telling stories in the sky, this is a must-experience Wichita moment. Plus, ticket sales support Exploration Place’s exhibits, science programs, and future events.
